This free online conversation is Part of the Focusing Roundtable series especially for TIFI members in Australia and New Zealand. In this Roundtable, As Down Under Focusers, we are often separated by vast distances from each other, as well as from the rest of the world. This platform of virtual Roundtables provided by TIFI can help us to connect, build community, and draw on the deep pool of experience and knowledge we have.
Indigenous peoples of both Australia and New Zealand share an ancient tradition of deep listening. In that spirit, we offer the first Roundtables conversation. Deep listening is also vital to Focusing.
The TIFI Membership Committee is pleased to offer this series of Focusing Roundtables designed especially for members of the Institute. If you are not a member, please join at https://focusing.org/page/join-or-renew, and then return to this page to register. This program will afford members a valuable opportunity to engage in casual peer-to-peer conversation with other members who share Focusing-related interests.

This free online conversation is Part of the Focusing Roundtable series for TIFI members. In this Roundtable, we will explore how we, as Focusers, might provide support to refugees, as well as the potential that a Focusing oriented approach might provide. There are many possibilities for supporting refugees, both informally and formally. Informal approaches might include welcoming refuges and helping them to integrate into local communities by being present, listening, and providing practical support. More formal possibilities might include offering Focusing-oriented programs that enable people to find greater resilience or inner strength. We also will explore how Focusing might provide self-care to ourselves as we support people who have experienced often severe difficulties or trauma.

Focusing Highlights is a series of interactive, online pay-what-you-can classes. Bio-Spirituality is the name of a Focusing approach developed in a Christian tradition. Its founders, Peter Campbell and Ed McMahon, both Catholic Jesuits and Psychotherapists, describe Bodily knowing and learning in this way: `Values, basic human goodness, and a positive sense of self are all learned in the body! It doesn’t grow in us because we follow an external list of do’s and don’ts. It is not discovered through religious or ethical interpretations. Rather, it is given to us through our body’s ability to be aware of its connections and in the knowing of being part of a Greater Whole. Bio-Spiritual Focusing is the bridge that connects you with a Sacred Place greater than yourself.’
