Relationships: Your Greatest Challenge... And Opportunity
Every relationship struggle you face isn't just a problem—it's a doorway. On the other side lies what you've been searching for: deeper connection, authentic expression, and the intimacy that makes life rich. You sense this truth already, don't you?
Growing Closer gives you a map when the path feels unclear. This isn't another course telling you what's wrong with your relationships. It's a warm invitation to finally feel at home with others by first coming home to yourself.
We are beings-in-the-world in relationship with others. How we feel colors our experiences of the social contexts, moments, and places in each situation. This is where voices, gestures and silences become valuable means both to be aware of how the other person feels, and to express our understanding as companions who listen in an empathic way.
In this webinar, we will explore some ways to connect with our bodily felt senses which guide us to an experiential empathic listening and understanding.
Online (Class will also be recorded)

These monthly meetings will be held on third Sundays at both 11am ET and 7pm ET New York time, entirely online, using Zoom technology, for 90 minutes each meeting.
Facilitated by Barbara Dickinson, Certified teacher of Interactive Focusing and Certified Focusing Professional (TIFI), participants will have the opportunity to experience Demonstrations of Interactive Focusing (for beginners), as well as partner with more experienced Interactive Focusers (intermediate to advanced).
An empathy circle, practiced in a Focusing way, is a regular Focusing exchange, held by the entire group. As such, there is a Focuser, a listener, and the remaining participants act as observers/witnesses. After the Focusing, each are invited to offer an empathic reflection to the Focuser.

Training in Embodied Critical Thinking and Understanding (TECTU) is an interdisciplinary and international European Erasmus+ training program initiated by philosophers, cognitive scientists, environmental designers, anthropologists, and sociologists, tailored for students, researchers, and professionals from all fields. Immerse yourself in novel methodologies - such as Thinking-at-the-Edge, Focusing, Micro-phenomenology, Environmental Immersion, Experiential Listening, and contemplative approaches. These methods can be applied to any form of scientific inquiry, particularly when exploring uncharted territory, fostering a deeper understanding of your subject matter, yourself, and others.
The course will take place online (12 webinars) and in person (one week summer school). The summer school will be carried out in Bielefeld, Germany.
This Program is designed specifically for therapists and counselors who want to enrich and take their work with clients a step further with Focusing and get their FOT Certification from TIFI. Other people who work with clients in different ways and want to enhance their work are also welcome to attend. (Even though they would not apply for FOT Certification)
It is an ongoing course of 1 1/2 hours every other week, on Tuesdays, that can be taken independently or as part of the whole Certification Program.

Most of us know that being able to listen in a Focusing way usually requires lots of practice and reflection. Yet, when we speak with others, we often find we have nothing but our habits to guide us. We can’t expect ourselves to automatically be skilled at speaking up, speaking out, speaking to and from our felt sense. Especially when we speak in larger groups, our Focusing skills can disappear! We need a place to practice speaking and some guidance to find a new way.
These Being Focusing Together gatherings will use Gendlin’s little known unpublished manuscript "Fitting In and Pouring Out, and Relating" to help us do just that. We will use our time together to experiment with new patterns and see if we find fresh ways to be Focusing in our group interactions.

This open workshop offers a first-hand experience of Focusing, a gentle and deep method for connecting with the body's inner wisdom. Unlike analysis or meditation, Focusing involves a presence-based dialogue with your inner world. Participants will learn how to pay attention to their bodily sensations and emotions in a new way. The session includes a short theoretical introduction and a guided experiential process. It is especially suitable for those who are curious about themselves and wish to deepen their self-awareness.
