About me: I am a recent transplant to the Oregon Coast, married with two adult daughters, a potter, an episcopal priest, a lover of questions and ‘inarticulating’ (see my website, www.inarticulating.com). I became certified as a Focusing Professional in 2012. At some point, it became important to me to understand who Gene was and what it was that led him to create Focusing. Focusing was life changing, yet I had the sense that there was more to it, and I wanted that ‘more’. My adventure with A Process Model began. I am grateful to Rob for being a rugged, patient, enthusiastic and kind sherpa, deeply familiar with the mountain terrain, yet ever alert to new sightings. I look forward to stretching my learning of APM through facilitating discussion together. Read more

About me: In the mid-to-late nineties, I began to study Gene Gendlin’s Focusing, with Nada Lou and Bev Stevenson here in Australia. I then trained with Ann Weiser Cornell, qualifying as a Focusing Trainer in 2003. Somewhere in the middle of the first decade of this century, I heard Gene Gendlin, in a teleconference with Rob Parker. The topic was: “The body, Not Perception.” Gene’s explication of this – that the body is primary, not perception – caused a big shift in my experience of myself. In 2007 I presented at the University of East Anglia’s Colloquium on "A Process Model”. In January 2010, I began studying A Process Model with Rob, and I have continued to do so, ever since. (11:30am Eastern time)

About me: I have been studying A Process Model with Rob through the last 3 years or so. Doing that has really opened this and Gendlin’s other work for me. I look forward to that process continuing within this group. Over the longer term my primary experience is in the visual arts and physical therapy fields.

  • Discussion group led by: Vivian Hung - group of about 8 people
When: Wednesdays at 4PM-5PM China time
    (9am CET until clocks change)
How to sign up: Email [email protected]
About me: I became a counselor in China about 10 years ago, before that I worked in different companies for longer than 20 years. Because my earlier experiences taught me that body talks in its own way, my interest is mainly in body and language. Focusing came in late in my learning of various psychology approaches, but it struck me immediately. When I started wanting to know more about the underlying philosophy of Focusing after years of learning it, I found Rob. He has Gene’s soul with and in him. Learning A Process Model is never easy, but he is always so encouraging to any questions. As long as it’s a question about Gene’s philosophy, Rob will do his best to explore and answer. Being invited to be a TA is a great honor to me, I think my way of working with the group is more about asking questions together.

How to sign up: Email [email protected]
About me: In addition to being a Focusing Trainer and counsellor, I teach counselling and adult learning at The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). I started studying A Process Model on my own in 2015, after having attended several of Gendlin's philosophy classes with Ann W. Cornell, and I've been studying with Rob since 2020. Read more
