Weekly live meetings - In meeting format on Zoom, Rob will offer a main meeting which will include reading and time for questions and discussion. In general Rob will try to keep to 90 minutes each week, but plan for 2 hours. (After the reading time, Rob will often continue an informal discussion - "the parking lot", which allows more unstructured time for questions. Information covered in "the parking lot" will be recorded but is not meant to be part of the official content and if you are listening to recordings only, "the parking lot" will be clearly delineated.)
Audio recordings - This offering will include downloadable audio (not video) recordings of Rob’s weekly meetings for all registrants. Audio recordings will be made available as soon as possible after each session for download prior to the next session.

"Nobody has time any more...Most of what we do all day is not from a really wanting; it’s from what we think we should want. There is a dictatorship and we work all day for this dictator, who is us. Or else we indulge ourselves some way, we just passively sit and do something that is less stressful. But the trick of being free of something, is to find the real wanting."Gene Gendlin, Facebook post 3/22/2012

July 8, 2024 Note from Rob:
With regard to maintaining presence with the inner critic, severe anxiety, and other potentially disorienting inner processes:
Please remember, I am just sharing my own personal experience; if you want to try this yourself, you do so at your own risk.
In particular, there is a risk of what Gene calls "falling into the soup" (merging or identifying with the negative process). This is unpleasant, unhelpful, and potentially harmful. So before trying this practice,
1. Be sure that you can recognize when you are losing presence. If you are not absolutely sure that you can tell -- from experience -- start by practicing with a therapist or other person watching you, so they can recognize and help if you start losing presence.
2. Be sure that you know how to take care of yourself if you start losing presence; for example, by interrupting the negative process by going for a walk, talking to someone, etc. Again, if you're not absolutely sure that you know what to do, start this practice only with a therapist or other person who does know what to do.
Thanks, and see you next week!
Rob
