I trained in Wholebody Focusing with Addie van der Kooy, after first being introduced to it by Cecelia Clegg at a Focusing Circle in Scotland. I continue to learn from and be inspired by both Cecelia and Addie.
I practice nurturing a respect-full relationship with the body wisdom, building the "muscle" of presence through practising and repeating the many-and-varied "doorways into presence" exercises, and here I find there is naturally a perfect container for Focusing to happen and to flow.
I am also interested in how craft offers an opportunity to build a deeper relationship with materials and the world around us, and how making things transforms the maker on the inside.
I am fascinated by polyphonic singing and sound and vibration in the body, and again how this transforms the singer/chanter/sounder and their relationship with themselves and others.
I have been fortunate to have had twelve years experience working with people in community education, the care sector, and at creative day services. I have also had the pleasure of four years of fatherhood. These vocations have supported, challenged and strengthened my capacity to be with myself and other people in a Focusing way.
