Update from the ILC

ILC

The International Leadership Council (ILC) provides leadership for TIFI on a variety of issues, and one of its main functions is to work with Coordinators to promote communication and to clarify the role of Coordinators.  Coordinators are the teachers of teachers, and have the power to recommend students to TIFI for certification.

On Sunday October 8, 2023, the ILC hosted two meetings for Coordinators to meet, based on their availability and time zone. There were over 50 Coordinators who attended the meetings.  We had translation to Italian, Chinese and Spanish.

After an opening attunement, participants had the opportunity to engage in what we called “speed dating.” Our version of speed dating was to place participants randomly placed in groups of two for a brief 3-5 minutes as a way to get to know each other. The feedback on this has been positive, though many asked for longer times together because they were enjoying connecting so much. It is amazing how much communication can occur when we live in our bodies.  This was demonstrated when two participants did not speak the same language, but could connect in a meaningful way nevertheless.

Next, there was a chance for Coordinators to express their ideas, needs, and opinions on what was important to them. We purposefully let it be an open space which allowed for maximum inclusivity. There were some suggestions of meeting more regularly, or at times when there is a particular topic to explore.

The ILC is committed to providing ways to strengthen our community of Coordinators and growing together. In the future, we intend to continue to have these meetings, and to provide translation whenever possible so that everyone can be included.
