Gendlin Grant for Original Research in Psychology

The Gendlin Center grant is a competitive award for promising original research advancing the Focusing process as an evidence-based practice. We are looking for quantitative research proposals which utilize rigorous methodologies. Priority is given to research design that has high potential for publication in a quality peer-reviewed journal. Depending on the needs of applicants, there may be several smaller awards or one award, for a total distribution of up to $5,000. Therefore, grant requests of any amount up to $5,000 are invited. Grantees will be expected to provide regular reports of progress; frequency of reports will be based on the expected timeline and determined at the time of the award. Evidence of publication within 3 years is expected, unless otherwise agreed upon. Depending on the specifics of the grant, funds may be distributed over time or in one lump sum.
Applicants should include:
- a detailed project description (up to 1,500 words)
- an abstract (up to 300 words)
- a timeline and budget
- the researcher's institutional affiliation and major supervisor, if appropriate
- at least one letter of support from a research colleague or supervisor from the institution where you are affiliated
- current CV/resume of the principal researcher(s)
- your photo (which will be used in our announcement if you become the recipient)
- a very brief description of your project, suitable for use in a public announcement if you become the recipient (100 words or less)

The Gendlin Center Steering Committee may request more details or an interview with the applicant(s). Completed applications are due by March 30, 2024
