As Focusers we all use Clearing Space as the simple first step we take in preparation for the big work of Focusing. We all have our own unique way of clearing what's coming between us and being fully present; some of us use boxes, boats, balloons, baskets, and others bring backpacks. But, Clearing Space is also a powerful stand-alone process with strong research to support it as a stress-reduction tool independent of the other steps of Focusing. This class will explore how you can use this practice in your daily life to manage its ups and down when you might not have access to a Focusing partner. We will break down the mechanics and skills you're working and strengthening when you Clear Space and how those translate into increases in calm, grounding, self-knowledge, presence, problem-solving and wellbeing. Together, will pit these processes into action with a number of experiential guided activities.
Please bring something to write and draw with like a notebook or journal and crayons, markers, or pencil crayons. We will also be using two body cards. Handouts, with the presentation notes and diagrams, will be sent via email after the class.
