Attending live: because of the interactive nature of this workshop and the opportunity to practice in pairs, registrants should plan to attend live.

In this workshop, Celia will provide an overview of the stages of trauma, with an emphasis on the vital stage of preparation and safety. Much groundwork must be done to ensure that the client is able to cope when triggered into dissociative states. Participants will learn when it is advisable to use Focusing (and when it is not) when working with trauma survivors. She will discuss how to recognize symptoms of trauma and participants will have the opportunity to understand their own preferred mode of working with trauma.

Self-care is essential when working with trauma. Therapists often experience secondary trauma impact and burnout. Participants will be guided in experiential self-care exercises that will be useful for themselves or when working with clients. There will also be a 1:1 partner exercise via breakout rooms.

This workshop is intended primarily for therapists, though anyone interested in this topic is welcome to attend. Because of the interactive nature of this workshop and the opportunity to practice in pairs, registrants should plan to attend live. However, a recording of the class will be provided to all registrants.

Class size is limited.
