The living body has a deep wisdom full of energies, vibrancies, and aliveness. From infancy through childhood and into adulthood it has held our life experiences, situations, and feelings, and has interacted continuously with the environment and others. When we turn our kind and curious awareness within, blocked and painful places that often result from life experiences become doorways that allow us to move forward into a new way of being.

Focusing is a powerful process for letting these doorways of growth and transformation open. It is a body-centered self- awareness skill that includes a welcoming and accepting inner space for change to occur. It is a natural, innate way of listening to ourselves.

Focusing provides a tool for doing inner work, helping you be more present, connected, and compassionate with yourself and others.

Instead of using the mind to analyze why you are feeling a certain way or how you got to where you are, Focusing helps you drop down to a deeper flow of understanding that is there waiting within the body.

This experiential class is for you if you are new to Focusing or if you have learned Focusing in the past and want a refresher.  If you are wanting to be certified as a Focusing Practitioner this course is the first of a series of four that will satisfy that requirement.

You will leave with

•    The ability to guide your own Focusing process

•    The ability to support another person’s Focusing process

•    An experience of listening to yourself and others that brings a closer connection

•    A simple process for being with deep and complex feelings

•    The ability to hold big and difficult life situations with spacious awareness

•    The resource of Awake Awareness: how to access it, how to be in it, and how to return to it so that what wants to emerge can do so in an environment of safety

• The ability to maintain connection with yourself while in connection with another

• A process that can help you let go of habitual unwanted behaviors and move you forward from repetitive life situations
