Class will be recorded for all registrants and available for viewing for one month.
Barbara McGavin and Ann Weiser Cornell were already experienced Focusing teachers when they found themselves facing the painful fact that there were issues in their lives that just weren’t getting any better. Ann was drinking too much—more and more often. Barbara sometimes felt so worthless that she wanted to disappear—permanently.
Something had to change. From Focusing and Gendlin’s Philosophy of the Implicit, they created a method for engaging with those seemingly unchangeable life issues. They discovered how to create the kind of inner environment that enables profound change—and how to teach it to others.
For thirty years, Barbara and Ann have been developing and refining their theories and methods in in-person retreats, online workshops and with individuals. This year they published Untangling: How You Can Transform What’s Impossibly Stuck which shares their story and method with the world.
In this Highlight, Barbara and Ann will share the fundamentals of their method: the five Powers of Presence and the way that developing these Powers enables the transformation of what’s impossibly stuck.
Some familiarity with Focusing is helpful, but no prior experience is required. All are welcome to attend and participate.
We use Zoom videoconferencing for our online classes. In this webinar format, you will see the presenter and host, but you will not be seen. You will be able to ask questions during the webinar by typing them. Highlights presenters may at times invite a small number of participants to unmute or join them onscreen during the webinar (optional).
You will need to have a computer/mobile device. Calling in by phone is also possible but not preferred. All registered participants will be sent a link to the video recording approximately two weeks following the class. So if you are unable to attend the live webinar, you will still be able to view it for one month.
