The TIFI Membership Committee is pleased to offer this series of Focusing Roundtables, designed especially for members of the Institute. If you are not a member, please join at this link and then return to this page to register. This program will afford members a valuable opportunity to engage in casual peer-to-peer conversation with other members who share Focusing-related interests.

About the video subscription service

A monthly subscription provides access to the newly-launched video service developed by TIFI. At any one time, this treasure trove has 30 videos available with new material added on a regular basis to keep it fresh and wide-ranging. Current categories include Focusing Oriented Therapy, Art and the Body, Children and Focusing, Focusing for Beginners, Philosophy of the Implicit and more…

This rich resource is based on contributors made at TIFI conferences, seminars, webinars and  Focusing  Highlights over several years. Many presenters are expert in their own field of inquiry. They offer insights on Focusing as a practice; they explore aspects of Gendlin’s philosophy; they demonstrate how Focusing has been applied in many different, sometimes surprising, ways.

In this Roundtable, we will have a sneak preview of this treasure trove and what’s on offer in the current listing. We will get to explore some of the videos that attract our interest during the session.

Attendees will receive a coupon code to sample the store for free for two weeks following the Roundtable.

Format for the Roundtable

We will explore an overview of the service, its key features and how it works.

Most videos have a 3–4-minute trailer, highlighting the key points (thanks to the detailed work of volunteer TIFI members who crafted these). Many of the videos are over 1 hour long and explore topics in some depth.

We will take a look at the trailers of 4-5 selected videos, taken from various categories. Then, using a quick poll, we will choose 1 or 2 (time permitting) from among these  that we agree to explore in more depth.

Depending on which ones we choose, there may be opportunities to do some of the short exercises featured or we may generate our own questions, exercises and discussion. Let’s see what is emerging….

We will use large group discussion and breakout rooms to allow for smaller group interaction.

Who might be particularly interested in attending this Roundtable?

  • Open to anyone who is curious about exploring various aspects of Focusing.
  • This is an opportunity for you to see what is being explored in different forums, from different perspectives across the whole spectrum of Focusing and its philosophy.
  • You may not have had the opportunity to attend many conferences or seminars: this provides a way to access some of the talks and presentations on different topics.
  • You may be considering taking out a subscription to the service and this provides a preview of the service that is available.

CONNECTION>CONVERSATION>COMMUNITY

What to expect from Focusing Roundtables:

We warmly encourage you to register and settle down with us to join other Focusers passionate to explore topics of interest and get to know each other better. If you have an area of interest, curiosity or passion you would like to see opened up in a future Roundtable, please let us know.

Each Focusing Roundtable is designed to promote informal peer-to-peer conversation. Rather than acting as expert presenters, the Hosts will serve as conversation moderators to encourage sharing and exploration of the topics from the participants’ own perspectives.  All participants’ sharings are welcome and valuable, no matter what level of experience or knowledge you have on the topic.

To preserve the nature of informal conversation, the program will be offered live only and no recordings will be available. Participants are encouraged to create follow up opportunities for connection among themselves after the Roundtable.

The TIFI Membership Committee is pleased to offer this series of Focusing Roundtables designed especially for members of the Institute. Roundtables will afford members a valuable opportunity to engage in casual peer-to-peer conversation with other members who share Focusing-related interests.  If you are not a member, please join at http://www.focusing.org/membership, then return to this page to register.

About your host:

Mary Jennings lives in Dublin Ireland. She is a Coordinator and Focusing Trainer. Her latest project is as a team member training on the Olive Tree Programme, a Focusing-based resilience programme, primarily aimed at refugees or displaced persons. The first trainees were in Iceland where they delivered the community-based programme to Arabic speakers living there.

She started the Reading Freshly program which involves TIFI members reading Gendlin’s seminal book Focusing together over the span of a year. The program is continuing as a member benefit with reading groups in a variety of languages being planned.
