Find a Focusing Professional - Anna-Katharina Lenz

Biography

I am a Certified Focusing Professional and Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at Miami University, where I teach a pioneering 15-week undergraduate course titled Embodiment and Entrepreneurship. This course is the first of its kind in a U.S. business school to integrate Inner-Relationship Focusing (IRF) and Thinking at the Edge (TAE) into the entrepreneurial curriculum.

Students are introduced to Focusing early in the semester and engage in weekly partner practices to develop a felt sense of self-inquiry. The course then builds toward deeper conceptual work using TAE, guiding students to articulate, test, and refine ideas for entrepreneurial action that emerge from their embodied knowing. By the end of the course, students create tangible forms—ranging from business prototypes to social change models—grounded in their lived experience and inner clarity.

My approach is rooted in the belief that entrepreneurship is not only a cognitive endeavor but also a deeply embodied process. I also offer 1:1 Focusing sessions in German and English. I also design and facilitate workshops in the realm of embodiment, weaving together my training in Focusing, Thinking at the Edge (TAE), and shamanic practices with a longstanding research focus on inequality, human flourishing, and action-taking. These workshops aim to expand the role of embodiment within business education and social innovation.
