Find a Focusing Professional - Kirsty Pakes

Biography

Since I discovered Focusing in 2007, it has been an integral part of my personal and professional life, blending well with my training as a Clinical Psychologist. I am trained as a Focusing Practitioner with the British Focusing Association and as a Focusing Oriented Therapist with The London Focusing Institute.  I have also completed a Children Focusing training.

I currently teach Focusing and offer the British Focusing Association Focusing Skills Course online and I offer Focusing-Oriented Therapy.  I have a special interest and expertise in working with parents but also have experience of and interest in working with a range of clients and difficulties.  I also offer connection-based parenting courses and consultations which fits well with Focusing.

My overall approach to therapy is attachment-based, trauma-informed, experiential and compassion-focused.  I offer a warm and kindly space in which I can draw upon a range of therapeutic models to best suit the client's needs, within a focusing-oriented framework.  I am also influenced by interpersonal neurobiology and have an interest in working with implicit emotional memory.

Within Focusing, I draw on Inner Relationship and Wholebody approaches and also support people to find their own unique way into Focusing.

Focusing has been a central part of my life for almost a couple of decades and I am deeply grateful for what it offers me and I am passionate about helping others access its treasures.
