Class will be recorded for all registrants and available for viewing for one month.
Imagine a Focusing space that can touch and evolve into a deeper and deeper responsive-space; a space which radically renews our understanding of what in traditional terms was called the prayer-space, and that gently reformulates our intimate experience of being in the world.
When Gendlin speaks about the body he doesn’t mean the ‘body’ as understood in the conventional ‘public language’ and with the old assumptions. Likewise, when we speak about ‘prayer’ we don’t mean it the way it is usually understood either.
There are many varieties of traditional prayer. In this class we will explore and develop a new kind of prayer consciousness: a lucid prayer movement that transforms our life experience - free of theological underpinnings.
For us, prayer is a unique opportunity to unfold the depths of our lives; to listen - as in Focusing - to the ‘much more still’; and to be open to how life invites us to co-create as part of a larger system. Prayer is not an action that takes place outside of existence - it is the action that creates existence. The act of pray-ing expands the meaning of being human, of being fully human.
Throughout his life - Gendlin, the philosopher of ‘being human’ - continuously investigated the processes that enabled life to move forward and evolve.
We were excited to discover that in his last years Gendlin explored the intricate connections between humans and the larger system, a discovery that inspired our path of on-going crossing between Focusing and prayer.
In this webinar we will:
There will also be time for questions and coments from participants. This webinar is intended for those already familiar with Focusing though all are welcome to attend. (For those who register and enjoy this offering, we are planning a follow-up workshop to this Highlight for those who wish to go deeper into this topic -- we will announce that when a date is set.)
We use Zoom videoconferencing for our online classes. In this webinar format, you will see the presenter and host, but you will not be seen. You will be able to ask questions during the webinar by typing them.
You will need to have a computer/mobile device. Calling in by phone is also possible but not preferred. All registered participants will be sent a link to the video recording approximately two weeks following the class. So if you are unable to attend the live webinar, you will still be able to view it for one month.
Dana Ganihar (Focusing coordinator who teaches Focusing and TAE in several universities and colleges in Israel) and Baruch Brener (Focusing trainer, theater director, singer, and a Rabbi.) are the creators of Shakio (the Aramaic word for 'the flow of life'). Shakio creates a new syntax from three languages that seek the "more": the Jewish mysticism, the philosophy of Eugene Gendlin, and art - movement, voice and imagination.
