An Online Class Facilitated by Annette Dubreuil
Part of The Focusing Highlights Series
This workshop crosses Focusing with parts (or ego states), using:
- Jan Winhall’s Felt Sense Experience Model, which helps us understand the neurobiology behind our parts,
- and Richard Schwartz’s Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps us understand the roles that these parts play: wounded, protectors, and grounded.
Richard has named the grounded part the Self. The Self is always there, underneath our other parts. It is calm, curious, clear, compassionate, confident, creative, courageous, and connected—the eight Cs.
Annette will be sharing some of her parts, illustrated on body cards—a tool to record our felt sense of a part or a Focusing session. She will then share how her parts fit into her story, illustrated on a timeline. Building a cohesive narrative of one’s life is essential to healing wounded parts, freeing them to return to their original purpose.
Workshop activities include discovering the felt sense of each of our eight Cs and one which needs more attention. A second experiential activity crosses our chosen C with a current problem in our life. We will identify the parts involved in the problem and then bring in our chosen C, to see how our felt sense changes when the C is present.
