“We feel more than we can think, and we live more than we can feel. And if we enter into what we feel in certain genuine steps, we feel more than before. And there is much more still."
-Eugene Gendlin

What if you were to find some simple doorways into what Gendlin calls the ‘implicit intricacy’… the ‘more’… so that you could say more of what you mean with greater clarity and creativity?

Gendlin developed ‘certain genuine steps’– in Focusing and in Thinking at the Edge (TAE) – and from these steps emerge simple practices you can use in your everyday life. You will find that you may know many of these already from your own experience; some may be new - working with them in a more deliberate, felt-sensed and fun way is what matters.

You may be curious about using felt-sensing in new ways to express something that matters to you. The approach here is to take some of the practices Gendlin developed for more formal practices such as theory or concept development and use them for specific interests – maybe formulating an article for a newsletter, beginning a creative project, learning new ways of writing a business proposal, or you might want to begin exploring some particular area of interest where you can bring fresh thinking to the world. When you make these practices your own, they can support you in many ways.

In this webinar, we will do exercises together, and we will also dip into some pieces from writers, poets & artists to see how they work with the implicit intricacy — you can work in this way too!

Participants should have some experience of Focusing, felt sensing and listening, though all are welcome to attend. You may be curious about using felt-sensing in new ways, and having some fun along the way.

We use Zoom videoconferencing for our online classes. In this webinar format, you will see the presenter and host, but you will not be seen. You will be able to ask questions during the webinar by typing them. Highlights presenters may at times invite a small number of participants to unmute or to join them onscreen during the webinar (optional).

You will need to have a computer/mobile device. Calling in by phone is also possible but not preferred. All registered participants will be sent a link to the video recording approximately two weeks following the class. So if you are unable to attend the live webinar, you will still be able to view it for one month.

Bio

Mary Jennings is a Coordinator & Focusing Trainer as well as a Mindfulness Teacher. Mary has a background in communications and has worked with many organisations over the years in the area of brand identity. Inspired by Gendlin’s Philosophy of the Implicit, particularly in the area of language, she is interested in how we can use Gene’s insights to fully express more of what we know in fresh, felt-sensed language. Her approach is to facilitate people to draw on their own experience, drawing out the richness that is already there, using accessible, playful practices. She lives in Dublin, Ireland.
