- Join Akira for this exciting series. Gendlin's article "A Theory of Personality Change” contains the original observation and definition of Focusing, which is quite different from how many people think Focusing is. The sessions will be interactive, with ample time for discussion during each class.
- No experience with Focusing or Felt Sensing is required.
- Recordings and other material presented during the workshop will be made available to all registrants after each session (within one day after the session concludes, except in the case of technical difficulty). Breakout rooms are not recorded. All recordings will be available for registrants until January 16, 2027.
We hope you can register by the first session but if you miss it, we have registration open until October 3 -- you'll just need to catch up on the recordings.
OVERVIEW
In this workshop, Rob Foxcroft will present his model for Meditative Listening. He will talk about the vital importance of the natural line, make a distinction between Focusing direct style and Focusing story style, and set out three ways to begin a Focusing session. He will also share a way to explore the bias control, two different phenomena which get called 'the inner critic', and two ways to find an action step.
Meditative Listening grows out of the work of Carl Rogers, Virginia Axline, Gene Gendlin and their colleagues.
It’s shaped by a lifelong commitment to the humanities: to literature, art, music, dance and theatre.
It’s rooted in ordinary life: in everything Rob has learned while teaching children as young as three and grown-ups as old as ninety.

FORMAT
The three sessions will build upon each other; therefore, if any session is missed it is important to view the recording before the next session. Recordings and other material presented during the series will be made available to all registrants after each session (within one day after the session concludes, except in the case of technical difficulty). Breakout rooms are not recorded.
We use Zoom videoconferencing for our online classes. You will need to have a computer/mobile device. Calling in by phone is also possible but not preferred. This series will be held in Zoom meeting format where participants can see the facilitator and other participants. Breakout rooms will be utilized.
