Benefits of Level 3

  • Greater ability to “troubleshoot” your own process
  • A deeper understanding of self-acceptance
  • More prompts to build internal safety
  • Skills to work with overwhelm
  • Support with any difficulty sensing what’s here
  • Progression towards professional qualifications
  • Increased confidence and skill in Companioning

What you’ll learn in IRF Level 3

  • An overview of the stages of IRF, with relevant prompts to guide what may help at each stage. (This detailed overview is called 'the bottle')
  • How to work with overwhelm (your own and a partner’s)
  • How to support “distant process” Focusers (those who find it hard to sense what’s here)
  • Deepening empathy for parts, enhancing your process
  • Openings and closings: getting more from the start and end of a session
  • A more developed Companion role, including learning how to offer prompts/suggestions

How the course works

  • Weekly skills broken into manageable steps
  • Worksheets for each exercise
  • Demo videos of Focusers practising the weekly skill
  • Weekly Focusing practice (in class and with a partner)
  • Time for Q&A, discussion, and sharing
  • Prescribed readings from the course text

Why Inner Relationship Focusing?

Inner Relationship Focusing (IRF) is a refined and expanded form of Focusing developed by Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin. It works with ‘parts’ as well as felt senses. Parts can often be in conflict with one another, or hidden from us, and IRF offers an approach of working with these in an educated and compassionate way that can lead to new shifts.

About the Facilitator:

I was drawn to Focusing through the deep suffering caused by chronic illness, which put me in a wheelchair for over 15 years.

Focusing taught me how to work with physical pain and despair, leading to significant bodily shifts.

I am Certified Inner Relationship Focusing Professional and Trainer, as trained by Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin. Based in Dublin, I’m also a professional coach.
