Sensing and Expressing: Connecting to the Heart of Focusing

Registration is closed for this event
Focusing Highlights is a series of interactive, online pay-what-you-can classes. Classes are recorded and registrants do not need to attend live. In this class, Akira will be sharing and demonstrating the unique style of Focusing he has developed over many years, beginning with studying philosophy with Gendlin in the 1970s. Akira's accomplishments and contributions have been widely recognized throughout Asia and internationally and he is a highly sought-after teacher. Join Akira as he guides us on a journey into the heart of Focusing, where sensing and expressing are a natural way of being with oneself and in the world.

Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 9:00am to 11:00am Eastern time

Times worldwide: Click this link for your time.
Registration closes Friday, June 12 at 2:00 pm Eastern Time

(class will be recorded for participants; no special computer skill or equipment required)

In this class, participants will explore Focusing with Akira Ikemi. During the first part of the class, Akira will introduce the philosophy from where Gene got the idea of experiencing. Experiencing and Re-experiencing (Nacherleben), the central principles of Focusing, will be explained with a demonstration session of Crossing with Animals, a Focusing exercise Akira developed to highlight these principles.

The second part of the class will take you to Akira’s blend of Focusing and Mindfulness through talks on space and a demonstration of Kanga Focusing. By Focusing on thoughts that emerge during mindfulness, gratitude and compassion will be brought to the many selves operating behind the thinking-mind.

All are welcome to attend. Some experience with Focusing will be helpful but is not required.

We use Zoom videoconferencing for our online classes. In this webinar format, you will see the teacher and host, but you will not be seen. You will be able to ask questions during the webinar by typing them.

You will need to have a computer/mobile device. Calling in by phone is also possible but not preferred. All registered participants will be sent a link to the video recording approximately two weeks following the course. So if you are unable to attend in person, you will still be able to view the class.
