I read a short online article and instinctively felt, “I should learn about Focusing so that I can provide this service to my clients.” A quick search put the possibility of studying with that particular Focusing Trainer out of reach. However, a week later I received an out-of-the-blue invitation to attend a local introductory class. This solidified my sense that my intuitive response to the original article had merit. It did not occur to me that developing my own Focusing practice would be transformative in my life, nor did I imagine a 10-year long journey of self-discovery as I moved through life’s challenges and slowly met the requirements necessary to complete my professional training. I now combine Focusing with coaching skills and the insights that 20 years of supporting birthing couples have given me. I primarily work with people who are in the transitional time of pregnancy and parenting.
