Find a Focusing Professional - Greg Walkerden

Biography

Greg Walkerden is a researcher and teacher in the Department of Geography and Planning at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Much of his research has a design focus: designing policies, strategies, systems, and practices to support shifts to socially, economically and ecologically sustainable forms of life. His academic roots are in philosophy and psychology, and he draws particularly on Eugene Gendlin’s Philosophy of the Implicit, because of the contribution that it makes to understanding how we can act astutely. Prior to joining Macquarie, he worked for 18 years as an environmental manager and planner, using professional practice as a medium for action research. He has been a Focusing practitioner since 1986, and a certified Focusing Trainer since 2001. He has taught felt sense based decision making to environmental managers, planners and scientists since 2009. Gendlin invited him to teach 'A Process Model' at his Thinking at the Edge retreats in New York in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
